A what? That’s right, we said a She Shed.
Simply explained, it’s a lady’s version of a man cave or Pub Shed (click here to see one).
You’ll see this new trend in blogs like these on PureWOW and POPSUGAR, Twitter, and even on popular TV shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

We’ve been following the idea, and last Saturday we debuted our very own She Shed!
If it sounds extravagant, unrealistic or out of budget range, throw that idea out the window! I’m going to walk you through the:
7 Simple Steps to Creating a She Shed.
Step 1: Choose a Shed
Find a shed that fits your personality and budget or click here for many great options. Because sheds are our specialty, we recommend choosing a size, siding type and layout that will be the be both inviting from the outside and inside. After looking at a few choices, we went with the shed on the bottom which is our 8×10 English Garden Shed.

Step 2: Choose Your Theme
Here’s a few questions to get your creative mind going…
- What’s your favorite hobby or leisure activity?
- What highlights your personality?
- How do you like to unwind?
We thought about a few of our favorites, which included:
- reading
- DIY crafts
- knitting
- yoga
- painting
- pottery
- etc.
Eventually we landed on building a little reading nook.

Step 3: Go Shopping!
It doesn’t need to get expensive. Our store here at Kloter Farms is filled with lots of inspiration and decorations.
You can also hit up thrift stores, antique shops, flea markets, craft stores, tag sales, craft fairs and more.
Check out the gems we found in our travels!

Step 4: Choose a Color Palette
Now that you have a fun variety of furniture, decorations and accents, choose paint colors that complement and enhance your selections.

Step 5: Get to Work
Paint the inside of your shed.

Just for fun, we ‘Mod-Podged’ book pages to the ceiling of our Shed.

Step 6: Add your furniture and accessories
Start piecing it all together! First, position the furniture, and then decorate with all the fun accessories.
With each piece added, you’ll have fun watching your She Shed come to life!

Step 7: Create a Welcoming Retreat
It’s not just about the inside. Make your She Shed part of the landscape by adding flowers, stones and rocks, bushes and more.
I’m a man and I find this trend amazing. (not only I get to keep my man cave) but more precisely because I have found some women being very creative with there She Shed. From a home office to a sex in the city theme and all you can mimosa theme. I have become interested in this trend because I work in the shed business. Sheds are sheds and to set ourselves apart we decided to add themes into them. It attract a different kind of buyer. Also I have notice She sheds tend to be a bit more friendly to kids than a man cave. I personally have a home studio and a bar and believe me sometimes I have to keep the kids away. The equipment is a quite expensive but I love having them around. Keep up the good work with the She shed, you did a good job.
